Reason for Being The Almanac will review, research, investigate ... and report findings here Our aim is to opine on what we think is right and wrong in the world of politics, government, sports, entertainment and any other subject we deem worthy. Personally, our politics encompass Reagan Conservatism and downright common sense.
Welcome Fellow Americans This is not a phrase to use lightly. Being an American requires ... demands ... a mindset. Being born in this great country or gaining citizenship through naturalization does not qualify you to be an American. Embracing, understanding and supporting the ideals in our ... Declaration of Independence ... Constitution ... Bill of Rights ... Amendments ... Pledge of Allegiance ... National Anthem ... honoring the thousands of men and women that defended these ideals down through the years ... these are the characteristics that grants one the privilege to be called an American. Anything less is just not good enough.
The Truth about the DC march - I was There For several days I have been struggling for words to describe my feelings about participating in the March on our nation’s Capitol in Washington D.C. on September 12, 2009. I continue to struggle with this so I will just start. Note that this is the first protest my wife and I have ever participated in.
First off, I made close to 2,000,000 new friends from all over America that, I know in my heart, are willing to put their life on the line for my liberty. I will do the same for them. I pledge my life, my assets and my character to them. I love them all and they have my greatest admiration and respect.
They came from small and big towns in every state. Men and women. Adults, youth and children from all ethnic groups. Some carried signs to demonstrate their frustration. Some were silent. Some were vocal. One thing I can guarantee you is that for every one of us that was there, hundreds more wanted to be there. To those I say, do not be discouraged. Stay informed. Continue to attend local tea and liberty group meetings. Keep it clean and honest and reject those politicians and individuals that try to benefit from our movement.
Americans are plenty angry about the direction our country is heading. We will get it back, I assure you. It will take a continued commitment to call our employees on the carpet.
November, 2010, will represent a new beginning … the day we begin to fire congressmen and senators and replace them with men and women who believe the Constitution of the United States is a carved-in-stone set of principles and values. These principles and values are our greatest guarantee of liberty and protection against the tyrannical pursuits of our enemies.
Not every scientist is part of Al Gore's mythical "consensus." "Back in 1991, before Al Gore first shouted that the Earth was in the balance, the Danish Meteorological Institute released a study using data that went back centuries that showed that global temperatures closely tracked solar cycles. To many, those data were convincing. Now, Canadian scientists are seeking additional funding for more and better "eyes" with which to observe our sun, which has a bigger impact on Earth's climate than all the tailpipes and smokestacks on our planet combined. And they're worried about global cooling, not warming."
Ever wonder how the hell poor career politicians end up rich? It never ceases to amaze me how the politicians we elect to the Senate and Congress end up with million of dollars. It's not like they worked their way up through a company and became president. Where did Hillary Clinton get $5 million she could lend to her campaign? Did she sell that many books? Would you spend $5 million of your own money to get elected to a job that pays $400,000? What's missing here?
You've no doubt read the old proverb "Give a man a fish and you'll feed him the rest of his life. Teach a man to fish and he'll feed himself." Our liberal polticians have somehow forgotten the last part of this proverb. They insist on handing out fish. Fish begets fish. Now, giving needy folks a hand now and then is fine and dandy, and the right thing to do. Some common sense must come into play during this game. Government assistance programs (welfare) need to be based on the second part of the proverb. If men and women avail themselves of government assistance adding up to $10/hour ... why should they take a job paying them $5 to $8 an hour? These programs de-incentivize ... there's no incentive or desire to want to lift one's self from the bonds of poverty. Remove the bondage from welfare recipients. Give them limited-time assistance and teach them self-esteem and work skills. Provide programs that require them to attend classes and training in hours equal to the assistance they receive. The human spirit is amazing when challenged. Conversely ... it is depressing when left unchallenged. Man will rise to whatever level of expectation is set for him. It is time for politicians to raise this level of expectation and quit handing out fish.
How long did you work last year just to pay your tax bill? All this money you toiled away for will end up in the hands of politicians and get distributed for an amazing array of federal, state & local government programs and entitlements. Does this piss you off or what? Whatever your leanings ... how could one not conclude they are in bondage to politicians and their insatiatible craving to "grab" more and more of your money? The Almanac is not against a fair tax. Say 10%. If 10% is good enough for the Good Lord, it should be good enough for the politicians. Everybody (including businesses) pay 10% of their gross income. Earn $10,000 ... pay $1000. Earn $1,000,000 ... pay $100,000. No other taxes necessary. No sales tax, no state tax, no local tax, no property tax. No deductions. No credits. No exceptions. 10% for persons. 10% for businesses. Fair. Equitable.
